As you already know from my post on the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette, when I first saw photos being leaked of the collection, I was left a little disappointed. To me, it looked as if all the shadows in the palette were extremely similar colors. However, when I actually received the eyeshadow palette for review, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually a gorgeous palette with a good variety of colors, and the images I’d seen previously were just a bit washed out.
Fast forward to sneak peeks of the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette coming out, and there I was… feeling a little disappointed again that all the blushes looked to be very similar shades. Upon receiving this palette for review, though, I am happy to report that again, that is NOT the case, and this is also an incredibly stunning palette! The UD x Gwen Blush Palette retails for $45USD/$60CAD and contains four blushes, one bronzer and one highlight.
The shades included in this palette are:
- Cherry (light pink satin blush)
- Easy (deep rose with gold shimmer blush)
- Angel (champagne nude shimmer blush)
- Lo-Fi (soft bronze matte bronzer, too orange as a bronzer for me but I do like it as a peachy-nude blush)
- Hush (medium pink with gold shimmer blush)
- OC (soft pink with peach shift highlight, however this looks more like an apricot blush on me)
Though I am generally not much of a shimmer person when it comes to cheeks and lips, I really love the shades in this palette. None of them are a chunky glitter or overwhelmingly sparkly.
The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Brow Box somehow never really made it’s way onto my radar when first scoping out this collection online, so I was quite excited to have it show up at my door with the rest of the UD x Gwen products. The UD x Gwen Brow Box retails for $30USD/$35CAD and seriously does it all. It contains two brow powders (dark blonde and light blonde), a wax, and a regular mirror in the top half of the kit, and then in the bottom opening, there is a magnifying mirror, tweezers, and two angled brow brushes.
The first thing I noticed about this Brow Box is that both shades appeared to be relatively cool toned and maybe, just MAYBE, they wouldn’t pull warm. These shades ended up being the perfect neutral territory as far as brow shades go! They’re not so cool that they look unnatural on my warm toned skin, but they’re also not so warm that they look red-tinted (which I can’t stand about 95% of all brow products ever created… WHY SO WARM?!). I think I can pull off either of the shades quite well, depending on how dark or heavy I want to go with my makeup that day, and I also think it’ll be the perfect natural-looking combo for me if I use the lighter shade on the inner half of my brow and the darker shade on the arch and tail for more definition. LOVE this product!
I have come to realize how much of a pain in the butt my lips are to apply lipstick to. The top lip is the real culprit, being that it’s quite thin and basically disappears as you get closer to the corners of my mouth. I also have a lifetime supply of freckles and they can make my lip line a bit hard to distinguish sometimes as well. Because of this, lip liners have really become my best friend recently. I’ve been using them more than ever and it’s definitely making a huge difference in my lipstick application.
The Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Glide-On Lip Pencils are amazing. They glide on so easily, but don’t budge all day long. The UD x Gwen Lip Liners retail for $20USD/$24CAD and come in five different colors (this is also the order the swatches are shown in):
- Rock Steady (blood red)
- 714 (classic red)
- Wonderland (dark pink-red)
- Firebird (deep fuchsia-pink)
- Ex-Girlfriend (nude rose which works with my natural lip color SO WELL. This color is absolute perfection!)
I highly recommend grabbing one or two of these! If anything, get Ex-Girlfriend. I’m obsessed.
Last, but most certainly not least, are the Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipsticks. Unlike both palettes, sneak peeks of these showing up online had me SO excited. There are six lipsticks in this collection (I’m just missing Firebird), and while many of the lipsticks are fairly similar (being that Gwen is known for her statement red lip, that makes a lot of sense), there isn’t a single one I don’t like. These lipsticks retail for $18USD/$21CAD.
The UD x Gwen Lipsticks shown below are:
- Ex-Girlfriend (sheer nude rose with pink shimmer. Again, I swear this was made for me. It’s almost my exact natural lip color and is a total YLBB for me!)
- Wonderland (dark pink-red cream)
- 714 (bright red matte, has a bit of an orange tone to it)
- Spiderweb (satin red cream)
- Rock Steady (deep wine red cream)
The shade I’m missing, Firebird, is a really pretty deep fuchsia cream. All of these lipsticks are SO comfortable to wear, and the only one I had a little bit of a hard time applying was 714, the matte. It took a bit more effort to glide onto my lips than the others, but that makes sense as true mattes are obviously drier than a creamy lipstick.
Final thoughts? Urban Decay and Gwen Stefani KILLED. IT. on this collaboration. I mean, it’s early in the year, but it could be the best collab to happen all year, in my opinion… that’s how good it is. I may be a little biased because these shades were made to be incredibly fair skin friendly (obviously, Gwen is a fellow palesie) so I feel like everything works really well for me, which doesn’t happen often.
Do you have your eye on anything from this collection?
