How did it take me so many years to try Stila products? I’ve always known of Stila but had never tried anything until recently, and now so many of their products have become part of my daily routine. It all started with one of their liquid lipsticks that I’d seen show up on a few of my favorite blogs, and I decided to order it for myself when I did a little Sephora haul for my birthday this year. Soon after falling in love with that liquid lipstick (seriously, fell. in. love.), I was sent some other Stila stuff to try out. I’m going to go into detail about the products below, but let me just start by saying that Stila has quickly become one of my most favorite brands.
Let’s start with some of the products I have from their Summer 2015 collection. I have two of the Aqua Glow Watercolor blushes, and while they look really pretty in their little pots, I was scared to use them. I recently tried Benefit Cha Cha Tint that I got with Ipsy points I had collected, and it was not a good time. I am sure I applied it wrong somehow, but I ended up with these swipes of tint on my cheek that stained before I could blend them out! And no amount of scrubbing was getting rid of the stain, so I had to layer another blush on top to semi-hide it. Needless to say, I’m a little scared of any sort of liquidy cheek tint/stain/blush that appears to be super pigmented, like these. Turns out, these blushes blend out BEAUTIFULLY and give such a natural, dewy glow.
These are the shades Water Poppy (a vibrant coral red) and Rosewater (a rose) blended out just with my fingers. They are so, so easy to blend and you can do a couple layers to get a more vibrant look. In the pot, I didn’t think Rosewater was going to be anything special, but once I blended it out, I realized how gorgeous it is! It gives off the perfect sheen as well, perfect for those who love a dewy finish.
I also have a couple of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in new summer shades, Como (a bright violet) and Amalfi (a coral pink). I seriously don’t know how it took me so long to dive into the wonderful world that is liquid lipstick. Stila has totally mastered liquid lipstick, too. Just doing the swatches of these two lipsticks proved how amazing they are- I had to use an oil cleanser to dissolve them because I just could not scrub them off my lips after they had set. I find these surprisingly easy to apply, you just have to work fairly quickly if you want time to clean up the edges before it goes into lockdown mode. I just do the best application I can with a wand, and then I use a q-tip with a pointed end to clean up the edges.
These colors are SO vivid, I love them! I wanted to give them a good run for their money on the “stay all day” claim that is in the product name, and I have to say… I think they live up to it. I mean, no lipstick is ever going to stay ALL day, let’s be real. With that being said, I wore Como to dinner the other night (Cole couldn’t stop staring at my lips. I asked if he liked the color and he was like “well, it’s very purple..” hahaha) and I had a caesar salad and hot wings, and my lipstick lasted the entire way through dinner. I was insanely impressed. These will definitely be my go-to lipsticks for when I need super long wear with minimal touch ups.
In case you’re wondering about any of the other products featured in that first image (ie. the eyeshadow palette and brow products), I’ll be posting on those soon as well!
Have you tried any of the Stila summer 2015 products?
