I have always been really intrigued by the idea of seasonal capsule wardrobes. The traditional capsule wardrobe is too strict for me- I really enjoy trying out new styles and experimenting with my style, so being stuck with the same clothes forever is no fun to me.
A closet full of intentionally curated pieces I absolutely LOVE that also change with each season, though? Right up my alley! No more stressing over what to wear, no more wearing things that I don’t feel 100% in and no more buying trendy piece after trendy piece because I don’t feel like anything in my closet goes together. I’m so happy with how this spring capsule wardrobe came together!
How to create your own spring capsule wardrobe
Planning a capsule wardrobe can be super daunting, so I went ahead and did most of the hard work for you. Now that you have a guide, here’s how you can make it your own:
- Identify which items you already own (you can use whatever color scheme you want, just make sure it’s one where the majority of pieces will work with each other)
- Identify which items you don’t already own and don’t have an alternative for
- Fill in the blanks and
Outerwear
These four outerwear pieces are my staples. Other than a rain coat or my winter puffer jacket, you won’t find me wearing much of anything else, regardless of the time of year. They get the job done and work for tons of different outfits and occasions!

Sweaters
I chose a couple equally comfy + cute sweaters (so you don’t have to leave the house in ratty old college sweatshirts anymore, haha), as well as a couple sweaters that can easily be dressed up or down. It’s still chilly in Vancouver in spring, so I made sure my picks here would keep me nice and cozy. All of these can be paired with leggings for a casual look, or with jeans for a more polished look.

Tops
I like having a mix of basic tees and camis that go with absolutely everything, as well as a few key dressier pieces in muted patterns or pretty colors that also work well in a variety of different outfits.
shop my picks: basic cami // lace trim cami // striped peplum top // silk blouse // flannel shirt // black tee // grey tee // pink tee // patterned crop top // graphic tee
Bottoms
With the exception of the occasional summer dress, I’m not much of a dress girl, so you won’t be seeing many of those in my capsule wardrobes. Instead, I go for a cute high-waisted pant or skirt when I want to dress up. These tend to pair well with most of the tops I have in my wardrobe. Beyond this, I live in denim or leggings!
shop my picks: faux leather leggings // tie waist pants // ripped jeans // dark wash jeans // pencil skirt
Shoes
I wear these exact knee-high leather boots all winter and spring long, so they had to be part of my spring capsule wardrobe. They make any outfit look a touch classier and they are super comfy! I very rarely wear heels, so everything I included here is flat, with the exception of the super short strappy heels that go with everything that I bust out for fancier events.
