In my last fitness related post, How To Make Working Out More Fun, I touched on the use of fitness trackers as being one of the number one ways to make myself feel more inclined to work out. When I can track my fitness and see what I’ve accomplished so far (and how much farther I need to go to reach my goals), I am much more likely to push myself to keep going. In that post, I mentioned that I had been using a Fitbit Flex which is a very basic fitness tracker, but I have since started using the Polar A360 fitness tracker and WOW, is it ever an upgrade!
The Polar A360 was released this November at The Running Room, Sportchek, and online, and retails for $274.99CAD. Yes, a pretty penny, but the features included and accuracy of this tracker makes it worth every cent. Polar is the leader in heart rate sensors and activity trackers, so who better to create a heart rate monitoring fitness tracker? The fact that I can get a super accurate reading as far as distance, steps, calories and fat burn goes makes me actually WANT to get off my butt and go work out!
Funny story- I worked out daily for a few weeks straight this summer (just half an hour runs along this hiking path) while Cole was away on work trips, more out of boredom than anything. I ended up losing a few pounds, but was really surprised because my Fitbit was telling me I was only burning less than a couple hundred calories on each run. I did the same hiking path while wearing my Polar A360 recently, but this time just walking (there’s a lot of stairs and steep bits that really get the heart pumping), and I burned more calories than I was supposedly burning during these runs. No wonder I was losing weight! This definitely makes me want to work out more when I see that all of my efforts are producing better results than I thought.
While the heart rate monitor is hands down the major selling point for me, there are many other features built into the Polar A360. When you download the app and connect it to your phone, it can vibrate to inform you of incoming calls, messages, calendar alerts and social media locations. It also gives you little “get moving” notifications when you’ve been sitting too long (yes, I’m guilty of receiving one already, haha). It is waterproof and tracks daily activity, steps, calories, workouts and sleep (though, as mentioned in my last fitness post, I struggle to sleep properly with something on my wrist for whatever reason, so I don’t take advantage of this feature).
The A360 also helps to bridge the gap between functionality and fashion. It has a really nice looking screen and it can be easily removed from your wristband and put into one of a different color. If you’re one of those matchy-matchy people that wants to match their fitness tracker to their outfit, all the power to you! No judgment here, haha. I have a white and a black wristband that I alternate between. As well as those colors, it’s also available in pink, navy blue and neon green.
All in all, I LOVE the Polar A360. It looks nice, it works amazing and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking to track their daily activity! I thought I didn’t need a tracker with a heart rate monitor when I bought my first one, but I definitely took that thought back the second I tried the A360.
Do you use a fitness tracker?
