I was provided free laser hair removal sessions in exchange for my honest reviews.
A couple of months ago I was contacted by NuAGE Laser, a laser hair removal and skin spa based in downtown Vancouver. I was offered bikini and underarm laser hair removal in exchange for my honest reviews. Normally I jump at the chance to work with local businesses, especially for something beauty related, however I was SO hesitant about this. I mean… laser hair removal?! I’d love to never have to shave again, but doesn’t it hurt really bad?!
Long story short, nope. It feels nothing like a snapping elastic like I’ve heard it described as. I’ll get into that in a sec, but first, how I ended up going through with it. I had a phone call with the lovely PR lady who was representing NuAGE Laser’s at the time, and I let her know that I was totally freaked out by the idea of laser hair removal. I told her I didn’t know if I could commit because I was a BIG baby with pain. She eventually coaxed me into going into NuAGE Laser and having a consultation with Ellie (the founder) just to see if it’d be a good fit for me. If it wasn’t going to be a good fit, we could simply part ways.
So, a few days later I went into NuAGE Laser (which is on Thurlow and Pender, super convenient location downtown!) for my consultation with Ellie. She was/is SO. NICE. She made me feel extremely comfortable, explained everything in detail (including the science behind how laser hair removal works and all about the devices she uses) and then asked if she could give me a little test run with the laser we’d be using if I wanted to move forward. Totally freaking out inside, I said yes (guys, I am a REALLY big pain baby. Like, really big!). I DIDN’T EVEN END UP FEELING IT. No joke. I left that consultation super excited to get the ball rolling on the laser hair removal process!
I have since been for two laser hair removal sessions with Ellie over the last couple of months, and each one has been a great experience. She is super friendly and easy to chat with, is so helpful with answering any questions and always makes sure I am very comfortable. As for pain, I find that anywhere that hair is more coarse, it hurts a little bit more. When I say hurts, I mean the “worst” pain I’ve felt thus far is something similar to the feeling of tweezing, so honestly not bad at all.
Just in the two sessions I’ve had, hair growth has slowed immensely and everything is much more fine. I’m so excited to never shave my armpits again guys, let’s be real here! And who wouldn’t want the gift of hairless legs (next on my wishlist!) or never shaving their underarms again? I certainly wouldn’t say no, and I know tons of my friends that I’ve talked to about this want to get laser hair removal done as well.
In addition to laser hair removal, NuAGE Laser also offers a variety of different skin treatments. They have a buy 3 sessions, get 1 free promotion on right now for pigmented acne scar and sun spot/dark spot removal (which Ellie has said is her favorite treatment). You can also take advantage of the exclusive NuAGE loyalty rewards program at any time and receive all sorts of perks, including getting your 7th treatment for free!
I highly recommend setting up a consultation with Ellie if you are interested in any of the laser hair removal or skin services that NuAGE Laser offers. If you’re on the fence for fear of pain, financing concerns (they offer financing!), or just because you are totally freaked out by the idea of laser, go have a consultation with Ellie. She’ll be able to answer all your questions, and I promise you will just love her!
