It’s been a hot minute since I last shared a skincare routine with you guys. I’ve been using this organic and/or natural lineup for about two months now and my skin has been looking and feeling really good lately. I have had maybe all of 2 or 3 blemishes in the past couple of months that I can remember, and I haven’t had any issues at all with dryness lately. Clearly, this is working well for me!
Biodara Luminous Cleansing Oil: Okay, this is not my favorite. It came in my March Mapleblume Box (which IS my favorite, so go check them out right this second!), and while it does a great job of getting my makeup off, it doesn’t melt off like other oil cleaners I’ve used before do. This means that I have to immediately follow up with a cleanser or there’s a pretty thick layer of oil left all over my face. I mean, it’s not make or break, but I’ll be on a hunt for an oil that melts off better once I’m done this!
Honey Belle Tea Tree Rose Foaming Facial Soap: Honey Belle was the featured brand in the May Pearlesque Box, and I pretty much love everything that I’ve tried from them so far. I didn’t think I’d like a foaming cleanser because they’re usually drying, but this one plays nicely with my skin (and Cole’s too, who is combo and more acne-prone). It smells like rose, which you guys know I love, and I feel like I’ve had so few breakouts because of the tea tree in this. Love it!
Eminence Organics Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant: if you’ve used Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant before (which is actually a really great product), this is pretty much the same thing, but you get a little under double the amount for about 2/3 of the price. It’s a great powder exfoliant that you just dump into your hands and add a little water to. It’s gentle enough that I could use this daily if I wanted to, but I only use it when I shower, so every 2-3 days usually.
Wild Hill Botanicals Blackberry Face Serum: This serum is a “blend of highly nutritive oils” like blackberry, sunflower and jojoba seed oil (as well as several others) that help to both calm and regenerate the skin, as well as repair the skin’s natural barrier. It’s quick to absorb and has a nice consistency. I also love that this brand is handmade on Vancouver Island!
Activist Skincare Hyaluronic Acid Serum (read full review here): I rarely layer serums, but my skin just had such a long spell of being dry no matter how much moisturizer I slathered on that I figured adding in an extra serum pumped full of hyaluronic acid couldn’t hurt. It adds that little extra bit of hydration that I need and I haven’t had issues with dryness for the whole past couple months of using this! So impressed. I like how quickly this absorbs as well, as things can tend to get messy when layering serums that sit on top of the skin for too long. Eminence Organics Stone Crop Hydrating Mist: I use this facial mist as a toner, after cleansing and before applying any serums. I honestly couldn’t tell you if this does much for my skin- it’s not particularly hydrating on it’s own, but it is refreshing. I probably wouldn’t repurchase it. I facial mists for how nice and fresh they make you feel in the moment, but I don’t really own any that make me feel like I’m getting any sort of long lasting effects (with the exception of the Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator… that stuff is BOMB for dry skin).
Teadora Beauty Radiance and Renewal Oil (read full review here): I got this in a past Pearlesque Box and really enjoy it. The consistency is a little bit thicker than what you’d expect from an oil, which helps when you’re layering so many serums and oils and moisturizers on top of each other. It’s very hydrating and I feel it helps lock down all of the other product I applied to my skin beforehand. I’ve also been putting a couple dots of this on my face before applying foundation lately- it really helps blend things out and give a more dewy, healthy look if you have any issues with dryness!
Cocoon Apothecary Eyewaken Eye Cream: This eye cream is the gift that keeps on giving… seriously. I bought this months ago to replace the Bobbi Brown eye cream that I used to swear by, and I’ve now been using it for a solid 4+ months and it’s STILL pumping out product after all that time! My under eye area is particularly sensitive and prone to dryness in comparison to the rest of my skin, and this eye cream is super soothing and moisturizing. If you want quality bang for buck, this is it.
Honey Belle Organic Night Crème: Another favorite from a past Pearlesque Box! It’s not nearly as heavy as a night cream that I’d usually go for, but that’s okay because I’ve supplemented the need for extra hydration with the hyaluronic acid serum I use. This one is packed full of antioxidants and I feel like it really helps the rest of my routine sink right into my skin for maximum efficacy.
