I want to start by saying I hope you appreciate the on-the-lip swatches I’ve got in this post, because by the time I was done I had glitter EVERYWHERE on my face. Don’t ask me how it transferred from my mouth to the rest of my face because I don’t even know, but you’d probably have glitter everywhere too if you tried on six super shimmery glosses in a row, hahaha.
I am starting a new thing where I provide you with on-the-face/on-the-lip swatches of products I’m reviewing when possible. The first thing that I do when I am interested in buying something (most especially lipsticks or glosses) is look up swatches on Google Images. If I find a swatch that’s actually on someone’s lips or face, then that’s a huge plus… and if that person is pale like me, an even huger plus! I’m hoping I can become one of those sources for other pale sistas (or just for people in general that are looking to see how things show up on the skin/on the lips). So, here goes nothing!
Milani has a new extension of their Brilliant Shine glosses line, which is the Milani Fierce Foil Lipgloss. It’s a super shimmery set of glosses that can very appropriately be described as dazzling! I’m not much of a shimmer girl myself, but I actually was surprised that I liked most of these shades on me. There are six shades, all named after Italian cities, and I’ve got all six to swatch and share with you today!
I’m going to go with the color descriptions from Milani, because I am awful at trying to describe colors, haha.
Milan – a sophisticated touch of taupe
Rome – a barely-there nude
Florence – rich chianti red
Venice – powdery pink
Capri – lavender light
Sardinia – crisp clementine orange
I found that these glosses all apply really well, aren’t sticky and have a decent amount of color to them while still being a bit sheer (with the exception of Florence- see below). They are a little bit gritty, but that’s totally expected considering the amount of shimmer in them. I am a bad judge of wear time because I tend to smack my lips a lot when I have something on them which obviously wears the color down quicker. I recommend removing these super carefully so you don’t get glitter everywhere like I did during my swatches, haha. One other note is that these have a fairly strong scent of vanilla frosting. It just so happens that I hate frosting so this wasn’t my favorite, BUT it does fade away very quickly after application so it’s not a big deal.
My favorite shade of the six would definitely have to be Florence, which for some reason is way less shimmery and much more opaque than the rest of the glosses. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be my go-to next fall, now that I’ve discovered it! I would probably wear a lip liner with Florence next time as well, just because it’s so dark which made it a bit more difficult to apply and keep on without smudging. As for the actual super shimmery shades, I loved the coral tones of Sardinia and the nude pink tones of Rome!
If you are a shimmer lover, I definitely recommend you give these a try (and if you’re not, try Florence anyways because it’s GORGEOUS)! At only $5.99, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. Plus, all Milani products are PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program certified as cruelty-free, so that’s another good reason to give them a try!
Which of these do you think would be your fave?
