If you’re new here, Mapleblume is a Canadian-based luxury beauty box that features natural/organic/clean skincare and makeup products. I’ve been reviewing these boxes off and on for over a year now, and I’m always so impressed with what the lovely women behind Mapleblume have curated for the box that month! The April 2018 Mapleblume box boasts five full sized products AND an additional deluxe sample sized bonus product.
First out of the box, we have the Mythologie Radiance Ultra Toning Facial Oil ($39USD/$50CAD). It’s a blend of wildcrafted and organic superfood seed oils that is packed full of antioxidants and vitamin C. It’s meant to help boost collagen production, clear sun spots and reverse signs of aging. I’m very excited to try this out!
We received a hair product in this month’s box, which I was very excited about! Lord knows I have enough hair oils already, but the Elyse Marie N°79 Hair Repair ($24USD/$31CAD) is definitely not going anywhere because the lavender scent is beautiful. It’s recommended that you use this hair oil prior to cleansing as a deep conditioning treatment.
I will often do this in the evening when I know I’ll have a shower the next morning: absolutely slather my hair from roots to tips with hair oil (and you actually don’t need a lot of product to accomplish all over coverage), twist it up into a bun and then sleep on it. When I wake up the next morning and wash my hair, it comes out super soft and shiny. I also like applying a couple drops on the very end of my hair after I shower.
One of my favorite products from this box is the OY-L Skincare Orange Rose Body Butter ($30USD/$39CAD), and I am honestly surprised I love it so much. I usually find body butters a bit too thick for my liking, simply because they tend to sit on the skin for longer than I’d like. This one, however, is super unique in that it’s a whipped texture which helps it to really melt into the skin. The scent is also DIVINE. So, so good.
A product that missed the mark for me was the Spirit Solid Perfume from Vapour Organic Beauty ($40USD/$51CAD), but that’s simply because I am super picky when it comes to fragrance. I like light, sweet, floral scents and this perfume stick with its dark, woody, green smell was quite the opposite of all of those, haha. I am confident there will be people who love this, so I decided to give away mine on my Instagram. The giveaway ends today, so get your last minute entries in there quick if it sounds like this fragrance would be up your alley!
Upon seeing sneak peeks of this month’s box, I was soooo excited to try out the Nude & Noir Cosmetics Provocative Palette ($46USD/$58CAD). It’s a versatile multi-use cream palette with shades for lips, eyes and cheeks. It contains four shades that you can combine to make quite a complete look out of. The colors come off quite pigmented and it’s recommended that you use your fingers to warm up and apply these as they are made with coconut oil, which can harden at cooler temperatures. I still haven’t had a chance to use this palette on my face so I can’t tell you how they perform, but I’m excited to try!
We’ve seen Lavido in the Mapleblume box three times now, I think. If this Lavido Ultra Daily Facial Moisture Cream was another full-sized product, I would be a little over it (don’t get me wrong, I have really enjoyed the two other Lavido products I’ve tried so far- it’s just fun to try new brands), however this was a bonus product and not actually one of the 4-5 full sized products that are always included. I’m looking forward to sampling this!
This month’s box wasn’t my favorite of all time, but I did like everything that came in it. I’d still love to see more makeup products included! They’ve usually had two makeup products in each box, but I think because they had a haircare product in this (or maybe because the palette was such a cool inclusion? Or because the fragrance product was a new thing? I don’t know, haha), they dropped it down to one makeup product.
I definitely look forward to trying new makeup most, so definitely excited to see more from Mapleblume in future. I think almost every single makeup item they’ve introduced me to so far lives in my daily use drawers… that’s how good they are at finding the best products and why I so look forward to seeing what makeup they’ve included!
The Mapleblume box retails for $120CAD (roughly $95USD at the current exchange rates) and is consistently valued wayyy over that! It’s hands down my most favorite green beauty subscription box and I really look forward to it every couple of months. The Mapleblume box for April 2018 is still available, so grab yours while you still can!
