It’s no secret that highlighting and contouring is all the rage. This time last year, I would’ve probably only heard of the ABH palette, but fast forward a year and there are TONS of highlight/contour palettes available from different brands. We already know that MAKE UP FOR EVER is a huge fave of mine, so it goes without saying that I was totally keen on trying their highlight/contour release- the Pro Sculpting Duo.
This duo comes in two color options: pink beige, which is meant for fair to medium skin tones, and golden, which is meant for darker skin tones. Obviously, I have pink beige, haha. The highlight color is a shimmery light pink, and the contour color is an orangey bronze. Both the contour and highlight are very soft and smooth, and glide onto the skin with no issues. I find the pigmentation to be quite good and very buildable. I use the MUFE 156 brush to apply both the highlight and the contour, as it picks up just the right amount of product and lets you easily build the color without going in too heavy-handed.
The highlight is so perfect for fair skin, I looooove it. I’ve been using it pretty much everyday! It’s got just the right amount of shimmer- it catches the light but isn’t too glittery. I find the contour shade to be a bit too orangey to contour with for my skin tone, but I do really like it as more of a bronzer. I lightly dust it around the edges of my face and just a little bit in the hollows of my cheekbones.

My verdict? I like the Pro Sculpting Duo. The highlight shade is perfection, and while the contour shade isn’t the best contour color for my skintone, it makes for a great bronzer. I’ve been using this duo quite often- especially since I’ve also been self tanning lately and need to bronze up my face a little more than usual- and it still barely looks like I’ve made a dent in the product! I think this is going to last a looong time, but when it does run out, I’d definitely consider purchasing it again.
What’s your favorite highlight/contour palette or product?
Heather says
So funny you say that because I have heard a lot of people say that they loved the highlight and bronzer was iffy for them hehe.
Chelsea says
Yeah, I think that’s the general consensus. I’m happy that it’s definitely still usable as a bronzer for me, because I’d hate for it to go to waste!
Neversaydiebeauty says
It looks like a perfect shade for your fair skin :)
Chelsea says
Thanks!
MarciaF says
I wonder why they chose such an orange shade for the contour side. If it’s MUFE then it’s probably great but I couldn’t wear that side either.
Chelsea says
Hmm yeah, I don’t know! It’s something I’ve noticed with a lot of contour palettes- they’ve included more of a bronzer shade than a shadowy shade. It’s definitely still wearable as a bronzer for me :)

You got it! :)

That highlight color looks gorgeous! I am still scared of contouring, but I love how you just used it as a bronzer. It looks lovely on you.
Chelsea says
The highlight really is stunning! And yes, I’m a bit scared of contouring too since I already have quite defined cheekbones, but this works perfectly as a bronzer for me. Thank you!
Cindy (Prime Beauty) says
Oh I’m disappointed about the contour. Shoot!
Chelsea says
Yeah, I’m definitely glad it still works well as a bronzer for me though!
Phyrra says
It looks PERFECT on you.
Chelsea says
Thanks friend!
Miranda | Slashed Beauty says
Beautiful! Gives just the right definition.
Chelsea says
Agreed :)
Maria says
Oooh I like!! I will have to try it!
Chelsea says
Definitely do! Even though the contour isn’t the best for contouring, it’s still good for bronzing and the highlight itself is stunning!
Kath TheFabZilla says
Orange for contour, no no no
Chelsea says
I agree, I’m just happy it still works out as a bronzer :)
Nidia - Lit From Within says
I don’t like orangy bronzers, either, but I do love the idea of this product – I’m not an MUA, so I don’t need 12 contour colors. Two is much more manageable! I just wish the contour was a taupey-grey, or at least a wearable matte brown.
Chelsea says
I’m okay with the more orangey bronze as a bronzer, but I can’t use it for contouring. And agreed! I like that it’s nice and simple and not full of colors I won’t use.
Leelo R says
This looks like a perfect everyday contouring duo.
Chelsea says
I wouldn’t say perfect for contouring, but it’s a great bronzing/highlighting duo which is what I do more often than contouring anyways! :)
Jess says
You HAVE to try the No 2 shade highlight – Its INCREDIBLE!
Chelsea says
Like the one in the golden palette? It looks totally different but also so pretty! Maybe I need both, haha.
Anastasia says
It’s so hard to find a good contouring kit for fair skin! This one looks really nice :)
Chelsea says
Agreed, they’re few and far between for sure!
BeautyJudy says
The contour/bronzer shade scares me a little but I think it looks great!!!
Chelsea says
It’s fine as a bronzer for me! :)
Brooke @ Blushing Noir says
I played with these in store… I wanted the highlighter (I think it was for the fair/medium) but the bronzer side wasn’t do me. I hope some day they sell them separately because the highlighter was TDF!
Chelsea says
Yep, the highlighter is amaaaazing. I love it!
Kiss & Make-up says
It looks like a really nice duo indeed. But I guess you gotta get lucky with the colors I guess, because they won’t be perfect for everyone.
Chelsea says
True that!
Zoë says
this should really be called a bronze and highlight duo because every single review has said the same thing! I ADORE MUFE brushes, I only have 2 but I kinda want them all (if $ was not barrier…) the highlight is stunning on your fair skin!
Chelsea says
Haha, so true! And yeah, this is the only MUFE brush I own and it’s soooo nice. I dream about having a full collection!! Thank you :)
Tess Galen says
Looks like a great product. Love things that are multi use like that.
Chelsea says
Me too!
Lauren says
I recently got the NYX contour palette and I have no clue what I am doing. I need a youtube day. ;)
Chelsea says
Hahha I’m all about them Youtube days when I get a new product!
Norah Loves Makeup says
Contour is a bit of hit or miss for me. I avoid doing it on myself and on clients unless it is asked for an editorial shoot or fashion. I have the MUFE previous sculpting duo and like it but I don’t use it much. For fair skin tones, I’d use a softer pink or even a rose to give the effect of a soft contour.
Chelsea says
I totally feel ya on this one! Some pictures I see of people contouring are just wayyyy over the top for me, but then other times I really like it when it’s done right. I definitely prefer just bronzing it up a bit :)
Laura MyNewestAddiction says
Very nice! I love me some MUFE products.
