If you haven’t tried MAKE UP FOR EVER shadows before, you’re in for a real treat. They are always so smooth, pigmented and easy to blend, and the nine shades in the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palette Volume 4 ($44 at Sephora) are no exception to this.
All nine shadows in this palette are matte, which actually surprised me when it came to the bolder blue shade as I think it’d probably be nicer with a bit of a satin/shimmer finish to it. Even on that note, this is definitely a one-and-done palette for me. I can easily create eye looks (most especially everyday neutral ones) without having to reach for other palettes or shadows to complete a look, which is something I look for in the perfect palette!
I gave these swatches a couple of swipes over primer.
From left: M-100 Black, M-842 Wine, M-240 Prussian Blue, M-620 Grey Brown, M-806 Antique Pink, M-536 Milk Tea, M-126 Chalk, M-546 Dark Purple Taupe, M-530 Eggshell
These shades are all so beautiful and so pigmented. I feel like the Prussian Blue shade in this palette is totally random, but I also don’t feel like it’s taking up the space of another shade that I desperately need to create complete eye looks, so I’ll let it slide, haha.
Overall, definitely a great quality and gorgeous matte eyeshadow palette that would perfectly complement any of the other MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palettes, especially the Volume 1 Nudes palette that has all satin/shimmer neutral shades.
Do you have any of the MAKE UP FOR EVER Artist Palettes?

I’ve never bought any MUFE shadows or palettes (although I do have a mini from my Sephora play box) but I’ve heard such great things about them! THis palette is sooo beautiful. That bold red color swatched perfectly!

I only have one other MUFE palette that I got in a set a couple years back, but the shadows are just so amazing that I’m surprised I don’t own more so far! This palette is gorgeous!

I am in love with the all-matte palette! I think mattes are one of those formulas that don’t get as much love from different brands as it ought to!

It’s true- and on a daily basis, I think most of us reach for mattes more than anything, so it’s nice to have a palette like this around!

Really gorgeous mattes! The swatches look so velvety and smooth.

That is the perfect way to describe them! SO smooth.

I really love the shade range in this palette. I feel like it’s so unique!
Chelsea says
Me too! I love that it’s not super warm like most of the palettes being released lately. It’s a nice change :)

This palette is so beautiful. I don’t think I’d wear Prussian Blue personally, but I think it kind of work with the neutral tone mix.
Chelsea says
Yeah, I may use it as like a liner or something- just a pop of subtle color on the lower lashline when I do a smokey eye maybe? I’ll give it a fair chance, haha.

I love the shades in this palette!

I still haven’t tried MUFE shadows! Clearly I need to get on board!

You doooo! I only own one other one from one of the 50 Shades of Grey sets from a couple of years ago, and they’re all shimmers, so I was excited to see that the mattes are just as amazing!

That’s a mold-breaker. Great thinking!
