A few weeks back, I was sent the Kosas Alter Ego Modern Romance Set to review, and guess what? I have new holy grail products, you guys. I get giddy even thinking about how much I am loving these products! If you haven’t heard of Kosas before, they’re self-described as a “visionary collection of elevated color cosmetics” and I couldn’t agree more. Everything from their sleek black packaging to their incredible product formulas full of good for you ingredients just screams luxury to me!
There are two Kosas Alter Ego sets to choose from and they both come with two blush/highlight duos (one cream and one powder), two lipsticks and a makeup bag. Modern Romance (the set I chose) is described as cool, and Future Icon is described as warm. I find Modern Romance to lean more neutral (or even warm for some shades), which makes it universally flattering for all skin tones.
Here’s what you get in the Kosas Alter Ego Modern Romance Set:
- Color & Light Palette in 8th Muse (a pink blush and light golden highlight, both cream)
- Color & Light Palette in Contrachroma (a bronzey peach blush and soft champagne highlight, both powder)
- Weightless Lip Color in Rosewater (a dusky pink rose)
- Weightless Lip Color in Darkroom (a deep plum)
Let’s start with the blush/highlight duos. I have been using these every. single. day. since I got them! I normally prefer pressed products over cream, but I am in love with the Kosas cream blush and highlight formulas. They’re easy to apply and blend, they give a gorgeous flush of color and glow, and they last well throughout the day. The powders are just as nice… I don’t have a single bad thing to say about either of these duos!
The lipsticks are beautiful, too! They have a similar scent to that of MAC lipsticks- kind of vanilla-y (and I love it). They are creamy, moisturizing and so easy and smooth to apply. I find that they fade very evenly on me, which is great because I hate worrying about what my lipstick looks like while I’m eating! Rosewater is definitely going to be a go-to shade for me- it’s the perfect nude for my skin tone (and that is hard to come by!).

If you couldn’t already gauge it from my overwhelmingly positive review, I absolutely LOVE this set from Kosas, haha. I think the $122 price tag is excellent value for the quality and variety of the products you receive. Dare I say it, but the cream duo may be my most favorite cream blush/highlight formula of all time (sorry RMS Living Luminizer, I still love you!). The Future Icon set is next on my wishlist for sure!
