At the beginning of this year, I didn’t consider myself much of a fragrance lover. But now that I think of it, I didn’t consider myself a skincare junkie, a blush hoarder, or a foundation collector either. I’ve worn makeup since my early high school days (fairly minimal makeup and all drugstore brands), but it’s only been the last year or so that I really have found a true love for ALL things beauty- with one of those loves being perfumes.
My first ever actual perfume (I say actual because we’re not counting the Mary Kate & Ashley jasmine body spray that I was obsessed with when I was 10, or the Calgon cantaloupe scented body mist that I lived for in grade 7, haha) was DKNY Be Delicious, which is a sweet but light and fruity apple scent. Laugh all you want, but I still have that first perfume that I bought over five years ago and it’s not even half done, haha. That goes to show how my love for fragrance is only just beginning.
I have since expanded my fragrance collection by a fair few bottles, and the newest additions to my little perfume family are the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy fragrances. There are three perfumes in the Viva La Juicy collection, and honestly, they all smell pretty amazing. Not only that, but they have the prettiest, most girly packaging (complete with bows… be still my heart!). Each of the 1.7oz/50ml perfumes retail for $74 and are available at lots of places, including Sephora, ULTA, Macy’s and Nordstrom. The Viva La Juicy scents are also available in rollerball form if you prefer that!
When I first got these perfumes to try out and was doing sniff tests, I thought that I didn’t really like Viva La Juicy. I initially thought that it had the “spicy” note to it that I don’t like in some perfumes such as Prada Candy and Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb, but now that I’ve actually worn all three perfumes, I can see that my nose was being deceived at the time, haha. Viva La Juicy is probably what I would describe as the most sophisticated of the three fragrances, with a wild berry, vanilla and jasmine scent. It also has notes of mandarins, honeysuckle, gardenia, amber, caramel, sandalwood and praline.
I can’t decide if Viva La Juicy Noir is my favorite of the three or not. I thought it was, but after waving pieces of paper sprayed with perfume in front of my nose 5000 times while trying to write this, I think I may be leaning towards Viva La Juicy Gold Couture. Regardless, Viva La Juicy Noir is a delicious scent. I find it to be the most subtle and softly sweet of the three, and I think it would be a great everyday “signature” scent. Noir highlights the berry, honeysuckle and sandalwood notes that are in the original Viva La Juicy.
Last but certainly not least, seeing as how it MAY be my favorite of the three (still undecided, haha), Viva La Juicy Gold Couture is a more decadent rendition of the original Viva La Juicy. Still based around the wild berry scent, this also contains notes of honeysuckle, golden amber, caramel and vanilla. I find this to be the strongest of the three scents and probably the boldest as well.
Any of these perfumes would make for a great gift this holiday season (whether that gift be for yourself or for someone else… I won’t tell!). If you can’t decide between the three, the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Travel Spray Coffret is a great pick at $38, as you’re able to get a good trial run of all three before deciding on a full bottle.
Have you ever tried any of the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy perfumes? If so, which is your fave?
