It’s pretty few and far between that I share a “life” post these days, isn’t it? Summer has been so, so busy. I honestly didn’t anticipate it being busy because Cole has had to work so much, but it turns out that that’s made us even busier because we have been trying to do as many fun things as possible when he does have time off, haha. A few days ago he had his first set of more than two days off in a row, so we decided to pack our bags and hike up to Joffre Lakes, which is about an hour out of Whistler. Excuse the iPhone quality photos, I was too exhausted to pull my actual camera out ;)
I’d seen photos of this place, but hooooly is it ever a breathtaking view in person. It’s a couple hour hike and is quite steep, so my legs and back were basically dead by the time we got to the camping spot, but it was totally worth it. There’s a series of what I think is three lakes, and they are glacier fed (we camped just below the glacier, so cool!), and we camped at the very last one. This was my first legitimate overnight hiking trip where I couldn’t just drive all my stuff to the campsite, haha, so it was a bit of a test for me having to hike with a big backpack. Buuut, I made it!
Also, tent naps. Are there anything better?
The glacier we camped nearby…
This definitely won’t be my last overnight hiking trip! It was definitely worth the physical exertion (as much as my back and one stupid knee had to pay for it the next couple of days after), haha. We are now on our next adventure to Oregon for a few days… wish us luck that the wind blows all the wildfire smoke away!
What adventures have you had this summer?
