I ran the 10km race I have been training the past few months for this weekend and you guys, I killed it! My goal was to run it in under an hour and I ended up completing it in 1:00:35(ish), so I’m going to call that a win. Much to my surprise, I’ve actually really enjoyed all of the training and think I might even kind of miss it now that I’m changing up my fitness routine a bit. One thing I’m not changing up, though? My earth-friendly fitness habits!
Did you know that plastic water bottles take up to 450 years to decompose? That is pretty horrifying, if you ask me. Even worse is that in 2050, it’s estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean. WHAT?! This throwaway plastic water bottle habit has got to stop and the solution is SO easy.
You guys already know how great it is to have a Brita at home, but have you checked out the Brita Filtering Bottle for on the go? It gives the same delicious tasting water with the added convenience of being able to take it anywhere. Now you really have no excuse for using plastic water bottles! ;)
By swapping to a Brita Filtering Bottle, you could replace up to 1,800 plastic water bottles a year. These 26oz bottles are durable, BPA-free, come in six different colors (mine is the shade Orchid- so pretty) and yes, they’re cup holder friendly!
Looking for a few other ways that your fitness routine can help the environment? Pack snacks for a big hike in reusable containers rather than buying premade stuff in throwaway plastic, do some research about the athletic wear you’re purchasing (there are a lot of great sustainable fitness brands out there!) and do something as simple as picking up and properly disposing of a few pieces of garbage while enjoying the great outdoors.
I’m choosing to #PutFiltersFirst by swapping single-use plastic water bottles for the Brita Filtering Bottle. What are you doing to make your fitness routine, or even just your day-to-day life, more earth friendly?
