Holiday beauty for me is shimmery (or glittery, no discrimination here!) eyes, big lashes and red lipstick. When it comes to dolling up for holiday parties, I don’t believe that you need to sacrifice an attention-grabbing eye look for a bold red lip. If you want to rock all the things at once, go for it! And if you don’t, go for that too! Holiday parties are your chance to get super glam and however you like to do that is fine by me.
Marie Claire is one my favorite magazines to read, because it’s a great balance of beauty, fashion and interesting real-life articles. I flipped through this for inspiration when coming up with some looks for this upcoming holiday season, and it seems like Marie Claire and I are on the same page when it comes to holiday beauty!
Instead of giving you one holiday look to go with, I wanted to give you a rundown of the products that are the “foundation” of some of my favorite holiday beauty looks this year. These are products that are going to give you full coverage, glowy skin, rosy cheeks and gorgeous eyes. You can always swap out the shadows and the lipstick shade for any color you want to use as well, these are just my personal favorites!
Smashbox Primer Water – Winter means dry skin for a lot of us, so I’ve been reaching for my Smashbox Primer Water quite often to start off my skin with some extra hydration. Another good option for really dry skin is the MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer Nourishing Primer.
Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint – This stuff is quite light coverage, but adds a nice glow to the skin. I like to layer this under my foundation when I want an extra glowy look, but you could definitely just use this as your base if you aren’t looking for much coverage.
Too Faced Born This Way Foundation – I prefer full coverage foundation when I’m going all out with my makeup, and the Born This Way Foundation is perfect for this. My favorite thing about this foundation is that it comes in a bunch of different shades.
BECCA Afterglow Palette – This palette works double duty for me. I use the blushes as blushes (obviously, haha), and the Shimmering Skin Perfectors as eyeshadows. They have a nice amount of shimmer and this palette has just enough variety of shades that I can create a gorgeous neutral eye look with them. Of course, you can also use the Shimmering Skin Perfectors as intended for your highlight. So I guess this works triple duty!
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner – I like to top off my shimmery eye look with a super sharp winged liner. The Stila Stay All Day Eyeliner is incredibly easy to work with and is super pigmented as well. It also does what it says and stays all day!
Esqido False Eyelashes – A good pair of falsies is an essential for me when it comes to a full-on glam holiday look. These false lashes are easy to apply, blend really well with your lashes and are super comfortable to wear.
Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara – Finish off the eye look with a mascara that really builds the volume and blends your lashes into your falsies seamlessly. I love this one without falsies as well- since I’ve been using RapidLash (review to come), my lashes have got quite long, so I definitely look for more volume in my mascaras these days rather than length, and this one gets the job done (and done well)!
Clinique Kisses Lipstick in Matte Crimson – And to top everything off, a stunning red lipstick! I just picked up an amazing Macy’s exclusive Clinique Kisses set which was $25 for FIVE full sized lipsticks (yes, that makes them $5 each!) that have the cutest tubes of all time. I’m hoping to post about those separately in the next couple of days, but until then, go grab your set so you don’t miss out, because this is limited edition. For holiday looks, however, you can use any red lipstick that you love!
And that’s that- my holiday beauty must-haves for creating a gorgeous look. If you need some ideas for looks to create this holiday season, be sure to check out Marie Claire! It’s an awesome resource for beauty inspiration and definitely has a way with refreshing old styles to have a new twist.
