Freshly homemade salsa and tortilla chips are hands down one of my favorite snacks. I swear, I could LIVE off this stuff – it’s that good! I was eating my homemade salsa with plain salted tortilla chips for ages, because I didn’t think any additional flavor was necessary, but ohhhh mama – I have found a product line has totally changed my mind on that.
Buck Wild Tortilla Chips are a new line that is available at Walmart. They offer exciting, innovative flavors – and you NEED to try them. I promise, these are unlike any other tortilla chips or nacho chips or whatever chips you are thinking these may be like. They’re made with real, quality ingredients that you can both taste and see, like whole grains, flax seeds, chia seeds, real cheese, peppers and spices.
Better yet – these are gluten free, have NO artificial preservatives or flavors (and I mean, who needs artificial flavors anyways when real ingredients taste so good?), NO trans fats and NO high fructose corn syrup.
They are bold and delicious with just the right amount of flavor to taste amazing on their own or to perfectly complement a salsa or dip. With flavors like Garlic Sea Salt (so. so. SO. good), Jalapeno Jack (the spice is nice!), Roasted Tomato Herb (very flavorful but not overpowering- my favorite with any sort of dip) and Cheddar Chipotle (the perfect mellowed out combo of smokiness and cheddar- these are amazing), it’s certainly not hard to Snack The Path Less Ordinary™!
And because what pairs better with a bold, flavorful chip than a yummy, fresh salsa? Here is my homemade salsa recipe!
- 1 white onion
- 3 – 4 tomatoes
- 1 bell pepper (I prefer yellow, red or orange over green)
- 1 jalapeno (optional, depending on if you like spicy salsa or not)
- a few sprigs of cilantro
- a decent sprinkle of cumin
- lime juice
Simply chop everything up into small pieces and mix it all together! I like to give it a good dose of lime juice, shake it up in a container with a lid so everything gets mixed, and then put it in the fridge for a couple of hours to let the flavors all combine.
When that’s all done, serve with your favorite flavor of Buck Wild Tortilla Chips! I did some very serious trial runs (and by very serious trial runs, I mean I just ate a lot, hahaha) of all the different flavors with the salsa, and I think Jalapeno Jack won my heart- it was a close call though because they’re all so good.
Buck Wild isn’t just doing good for our taste buds, but they’re also doing good in the community. The “Mission Buck Wild” initiative supports FareStart’s Youth Programs, which provides skill-building programs to help young people secure meaningful employment opportunities. So awesome! I love supporting companies that give back to the community.
