Hi readers! My name is Cat, and I’ll be your blogger today. I’m a 25 year old social media marketer living and working in the East San Francisco Bay. Normally I blog over at Oddly Lovely, where I share easy-to-do recipes, thoughtfully curated outfits, beauty tips, DIY projects, and other lifestyle-y topics. Today, I want to share this DIY almond body scrub with you!
Like many women, bath time is my happy time. It’s one of those rare solitary activities where we get to focus on pampering ourselves and just ourselves. Plus, all those bath fizzes, bombs, bubbles, and other goodies are just so much fun!
As a regular shaver, I notice such a difference when I use a body scrub before putting a razor to my legs. It helps me achieve both a closer shave and prevents those ugly and uncomfortable razor bumps. While body scrubs can be expensive to buy regularly, they are incredibly affordable and easy to make at home. (When packaged well, they also make adorable birthday and holiday presents!).
My favorite recipe is this almond body scrub. Not only does it smell like marzipan, the coconut oil acts as a moisturizer while the almond seals in moisture and prevents dry and cracked skin.
Almond Body Scrub
1 cup raw sugar
1/3 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup almond oil
1 tablespoon almond extract
Pour raw sugar into a medium bowl. Add the coconut oil, almond oil, and almond extract, and mix until it’s an even consistency. You’ll have enough body scrub to fill an 8 ounce mason jar, plus extra (which I use later that day when I shower!). Multiply if you want to make more than one jar. It will stay fresh for up to 2 months on the shelf.
When you’re ready to use the body scrub, give it a little stir with your finger to make sure too much oil hasn’t risen to the top. Then scrub on your body to exfoliate and moisturize your skin, as well as prep your legs for shaving. Enjoy!
