Daaaaang, is the Chanel holiday 2016 makeup collection ever pretty! While it doesn’t scream “holiday,” it’s gorgeous and full of products that work really well could easily be used on a regular basis. There are a couple pieces of this collection that I’m missing (like the eyeshadow palette which has beautiful shades and pigmentation), but I am really enjoying the products I do have here!
Surprisingly enough, the nail polishes are probably my favorite part of this collection. Normally I’m pretty meh about nail polish, but I just really love two out of three of these shades.
Pink Rubber is a matte pale pink and is unlike any polish I already own. It’s pretty sheer, so I have to do several coats to build up the opacity and get full coverage, but when all is said and done, it’s worth it!
Liquid Mirror is a soft metallic silver, much like the silver I used to rock my entire elementary school life, haha. This one is a definite throwback for me and I’m loving it!
Hyperrose Glass is the dud for me- it’s a very sheer, slightly shimmery pink. I reaaaally don’t like this polish simply because I hate sheer polishes and I don’t find this one to be buildable to a full opacity.
The lip products in this collection are beautiful as well. This Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour is in the shade Ultrarose, a pretty true looking red in the tube, but with a little bit of a corally/orangey vibe when on the lips. It’s not a fully opaque lip color (though it isn’t super sheer either), but can be built up. These lipsticks are very creamy and don’t dry out my lips at all.
I loooove my coral lip colors, and the Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Super Coral definitely fits the bill color-wise. I do find the formula of these a bit tackier/stickier than my true lipgloss loves (the NARS Velvet Lip Glides, in case you were wondering, haha), but comfortable enough to wear nonetheless.
Last but not least, we have the Chanel Calligraphe de Chanel Longwear Intense Cream Liner (quite the mouthful, isn’t it?). While gel liner used to be my everyday go-to (before I discovered felt tip liquid liners), I only have experience with a couple different drugstore products. Unlike those drugstore products, the Chanel Calligraphe liner stays put all day, doesn’t smudge on me, and is super easy to work with. The drugstore gel liners I used to use would dry down quickly, and then tug and smear when I tried to finish up my liner job. With this liner, you get a little bit of time to work with it, go over it, move it around- whatever you need- before it dries and is on lockdown for the rest of the day. It’s getting me excited to add a gel liner back into my routine and get a little practice in again!
Also part of this holiday collection, but not pictured:
- Chanel Architectonic Eyeshadow Palette (which I’ve seen great reviews on- super pigmented!)
- Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Hyperfresh (a very pretty pink)
Is anything from the Chanel holiday 2016 makeup collection on your wishlist?
