As of very recently, I have been introduced to Pixi Beauty’s skincare line- Skintreats (cutest name ever, right?). I have been quite the fan of their beauty products for a few months now, ever since I discovered the amazingness that is their bronzer via my May Ipsy bag, so I was definitely interested to try out some of their mostly new skincare line. I say mostly new because I believe some of the Skintreats have been around for a couple years or so, such as the Glow Tonic, but a bunch of the line is new as well.
Let’s start with the cleansing balm! You know I love me a good cleansing oil, and other than my Bioderma Sensibio H2O (full review here), I’m not a big fan of makeup removers in general. I have super sensitive skin around my eyes and that is generally where most of the makeup is coming off, so I need something heavy duty that gets the job done quick, well AND gently. I truly believe that you can’t go wrong with a cleansing oil before using your actual face wash, and the Pixi Skintreats Nourishing Cleansing Balm absolutely makes the cut for my cleansing oil requirements. It’s a balm to oil cleanser that you simply scoop out a little dollop of and massage into your skin, then rinse or wipe off with a cloth and follow with regular cleanser. It gets the job done, smells really nice, and is packed full of paraben-free goodness, such as sweet almond oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and vitamin E.
This bad boy gets prettiest packaging award out of the entire Skintreats collection, because hello- PRETTY! The Pixi Skintreats Rose Oil Blend comes in a gorgeous little bottle with a dropper. I’ll admit, droppers are usually the messier option when it comes to beauty products- however, when it comes to oils specifically, they are a godsend. I have a hair oil with a pump on it, and no matter how gentle I am on that pump, I get WAY too much product every time. You only need a drop or two of oil products, especially when you’re applying something just to your face and neck, and two drops of this product go a long way for me. I drop the oil onto my fingers, rub them together a little to spread out the product and then very gently press the oil into the skin on my face and neck.
I don’t find this oil to be greasy, and while it inevitably will leave a bit of a sheen (because oil, obvs), I don’t look or feel slimy or slick in the slightest. It’s super hydrating and the fragrance is so gorgeously luxurious smelling without being intoxicating. It’s a botanical blend of youth-preserving oils, such as sweet almond, rosehip, jojoba, pomegranate seed and geranium, that are meant to improve the elasticity of the skin and provide a healthy glow. I seriously love this product- fave of the bunch for me!
Next is the Pixi Skintreats Glowtion Day Dew. I wish this was named the Day Dew Glowtion because everytime I say it or spell it, I feel like I’m saying it backwards… but there are more important issues in the world, haha. This is an illuminating skin perfector that gives dull skin a boost. While it claims to be feather-light, I did find this to be a bit heavier than expected- though not heavy in the sense of a rich night cream, but more so in just a not-feather-light application kind of way. I apply this under my foundation to help give my skin a more healthy, dewy glow. It’s got a little twinkle to it, but nothing noticeably shimmery once it’s on your skin. I like this product a lot, and it’s something I’ve been using without foundation as well when I’m having a light makeup day.
Last but certainly not least, considering how many good reviews I’ve read on this product, is the Pixi Skintreats Glow Tonic (which also comes in a pre-soaked pad form- perfect for travel!). This is an exfoliating toner (a chemical toner, which basically means it doesn’t have a physical/abrasive quality to it and rather uses acids to remove dead skin cells and accelerate cell renewal) and I haven’t actually tried it yet because I’m trying to finish up the Paula’s Choice once I have been using for a few months (although I think I’m about ready to call it quits on that one, simply because I think my skin has become way too used to it and I need something stronger at this point). It’s a 5% glycolic acid formula that also contains aloe vera and ginseng to soothe the skin. It’s also hypoallergenic and alcohol free. I posted a sneak peek of this post on Instagram a week ago, and I had so many people say that they LOVE the Glow Tonic! Seriously- 7 different people took the time to comment and say they either totally love it already or really want to try it, so I’m pretty sold already. In fact, I’m officially ditching the 1% BHA lotion I’ve been using and starting on this tonight because now I’m all excited, haha.
Update (Jan 22, 2017): Glow Tonic is probably my all time favorite skincare product. I have been using it almost continuously since I first wrote this post. There was a single time that I ran out and couldn’t find anywhere to buy it in Canada (it’s at Shoppers Drug Mart now, thankfully!) and my skin went to crap for a couple of months without it- seriously! I ended up getting a giant bottle at Generation Beauty when I was in Toronto last May and am STILL using that same bottle. I can’t recommend this enough!
Have you tried any of the products in the Pixi Skintreats skincare line?

I’m so excited to start seeing results from the Glow Tonic- I just started on it last night! How long did it take for you to start seeing your skin making changes? I am loving the other products of theirs for sure.

I love Pixi! Their packaging is always so adorable! I haven’t tried their skin treats, other than their glow tonic (which I love). But that balm cleanser sounds SO nice!

I haven’t tried any of the Pixi skincare yet. I really want to. The Glow product was out of stock last time I was at my Target. I do use their Mattelustre lipsticks and absolutely love those.
Chelsea says
I just got two of the Mattelustre lipsticks for review recently and am already head over heels! They are sooo smooth and comfortable to wear. Love them! Hopefully you can find Glow Tonic soon :)

Wooo! I’m liking it so far. I’ve been using it for a couple days now (twice a day) and my skin hasn’t been irritated at all!

I see these products a lot in Target. I really love cleansing balm. If my local Target carries it I may pick it up! You have some really cool products that I have yet to see. Like the Glow Tonic. Really good post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chelsea says
Aw thanks for stopping by!! Cleansing balms/oils are my jam, for sure. No makeup remover works like them!!

Glow Tonic is up there on my list to try too! The cleansing balm sounds interesting as well.

Chelsea says
Thanks Christine! How come you don’t like the brand?
Christine says
A few reasons, but some of the products just didn’t work with my sensitive skin! I have CRAZY Skin that just reacts to pretty much everything, ha! It can be a major pain!!
Katie Garvin says
I keep hearing great things about this brand — especially that glow tonic, Tati raves about it on YouTube. :-) Thanks for the recommendations!

I love Glow Tonic! I learned about it courtesy of Caroline Hirons’ blog. I couldn’t easily get the P50 that she loves but this is another excellent option. I’m intrigued to try out more of the skincare options that I am seeing from Pixi recently!

Pixi seems to be launching so many new products lately and they all look really awesome to me! I think I need to go shopping :)
