Happy Cyber Monday! I am avoiding looking at everyone’s Cyber Monday sales posts in an effort to save money (I may have gone a little crazy on the ULTA Cyber Fundays sale last week), so instead of a sales list here today, I wanted to chat about a few of the best haircare products I used in 2015! Some of them are on sale today too, so it kind of works out perfectly.
Best Dry Shampoo
I feel like I’ve tried a billion dry shampoos. It took me a long time to get on the dry shampoo bandwagon, simply because everything I was trying wasn’t working for me. I couldn’t find anything at the drugstore that would work for me other than Batiste, which is a great dry shampoo, except it left a bit of a white cast that made my brown roots look greyish. Not a good look for me, haha. Apparently they have Hint Of Color dry shampoos in their line as well, which I haven’t yet tried, but that may work better for me in regards to the white cast. Regardless, I have found something that works 100% beautifully for me! I got a little sample size of the Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo (use code PARTYON for 25% off a $35+ purchase) in a Birchbox quite a few months ago and have since bought the full size. It’s the cutest looking bottle, it works amazingly well for my hair, and it leaves NO white cast. I love it so much.
Best Root Lifter
I discovered this product through Kate of The Small Things Blog quite a long time ago. I’m not sure if she still does, but at the time of me coming across this on her blog, she swore by the Aquage Uplifting Foam. She had amazing, voluminous hair, so of course I went on the hunt for this right away. I ended up having to order on Amazon and pay a billion dollars because I couldn’t find it in Canada anywhere, but it was SO worth it. I only have to apply a little bit at my roots and then blow dry my roots in an upwards motion and VOILA- uplifted roots that hold all day. This stuff legitimately works wonders for the flattest of hair (ie. mine)!
Best Hair Mask
You probably don’t know this unless you follow me on Snapchat (@chelseaoliviaxo) because I haven’t really posted pictures anywhere, but my hair is pretty blonde right now. While my ends are looking pretty good still, I am finding my hair a bit dryer in general due to the lightening process, so I’ve been slathering all sorts of masks on it to find out what works best. Thus far, my favorite has been the Hydrating Mask from My Mane Care. First of all, I’m a total sucker for how awesome their packaging is (I love that it’s in a resealable pouch as opposed to a container I have to dip into, like most hair masks). Second of all, it’s 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free. It’s coconut oil based, so obviously smells amazing, and it targets brittle, damaged hair, dry scalp and also helps to protect against environmental elements. You can leave it on for half an hour and then wash it out, or you can live life on the edge like me (ha!) and leave it on overnight. I recommend not applying this near your roots and focusing it more near the bottom half of your hair which is usually the more dry/damaged area as it can be a bit of a struggle to wash it all out if it’s up near your roots.
Best Shampoo and Conditioner Duo
I have been going to the same stylist for a couple years now, and she always uses KEVIN.MURPHY products. They smell amazing and my hair always comes out so silky smooth. I’m obsessed with the ANGEL.WASH and ANGEL.RINSE which is for fine, colored hair (mine!). It smells so good and I never get buildup with these products like I do with a lot of drugstore shampoos and conditioners.
Best Blow-Dry Spray
The L’Oreal Paris Hot & Go Quick Dry Primer Spray seriously speeds up the drying process. I have no idea how, but it does. I have pretty fine hair, but I have a LOT of it (it’s misleading, every stylist I’ve ever had comments on this, haha), so drying can take longer than I’d like. Pairing this spray with my favorite blow dryer speeds up the process a TON and it helps make my hair soft and silky. Better yet, this is super affordable! The one I use seems to be a Canada-only product (and is available at Walmart and London Drugs), but this one may be the same product in different packaging.
The Best Flat Iron
Hands down, the Ultra CHI flat iron (which are currently on sale at ULTA!). I never really thought there was a significant difference in straightening time between different flat irons, but this thing changed my mind. I forgot to include this bad boy in my photos, but I did already do a full post on it, so you can just go check it out there!
The Best Blow Dryer
I saved the best for last. The NuMe Signature Dryer has become my new best friend, because it just speeds up my hair styling time immensely. I use this in coordination with the Quick Dry Primer Spray and my hair dries SO FAST and so sleek. I thought I loved my old hair dryer until I got this one and was seriously amazed at how nice my hair looked without even having to straighten it! The Signature Dryer is normally $179, but is only $69 right now with code CMDRYER69. That is SUCH a good price for such a high quality dryer!
While we’re at it, I wanted to share a couple other NuMe sales that are too good to miss. You can get two of their Classic Wands for $34 (use code 34WANDS), the Classic Couple (which is a curling wand AND a flat iron) is only $56 with code DUOGIFT56, and the Travel Kit (which includes a flat iron, curling wand AND blow dryer) is only $97 with code TRAVELKIT97.
What do you think are the best haircare products of 2015? I’m always looking for suggestions!

How good is the Ultra CHI?! I seriously didn’t know how good flat irons could be til I tried it.

Love this post! I also heard of Aquage from Kate’s blog and I. LOVE. IT. I love its smell and with my greasy hair, it also keeps my hair from producing a lot of oil overnight. I still have to wash it every day, but I might try your fave dry shampoo.
Chelsea says
Righhhht?! It’s SO GOOD. And yes, the dry shampoo is awesome!! If you can get your hands on the Batiste dark hair one, that may be even better for your dark hair because it’s also cheaper. :)

Do you have any recommendations for hot rollers or curling irons? I’ve been growing out my hair and I’d love to try something new with it! (And I love your pictures!)
Sammi the Beauty Buff says
Batiste Dry Shampoo is my all-time FAVORITE! I tried the Amika and liked it, but I think the best thing about it is it’s packaging. I have to say, I got a sample of the Living Proof dry shampoo and was crazy impressed by it. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly suggest picking it up! It does wonders!
