My first experience with an Au Naturale Cosmetics product was quite a long time ago when I got a sample of one of their Organic Creme Highlighter Sticks in a gorgeous rose gold shade from a subscription box. I loved the consistency of the product (it reminded me a lot of the RMS highlighters) and the shade was beautiful, but I didn’t use it a whole lot because rose gold doesn’t look the best on me as a highlight. My second experience with Au Naturale was not until last October when I received an eye pencil in my Mapleblume box and LOVED it. Ever since seeing how well this eye pencil performed, I’ve been dying to try more from Au Naturale and I recently got the opportunity to!
I was sent a few different products to test out:
- Au Naturale Pure Powder Highlighter in Begonia (a soft gold with copper accents) // $25
- Au Naturale Anywhere Creme Multistick in Grapefruit (a neutral gold pink) // $35
- Au Naturale Completely Covered Creme Concealer in Beige // $26
- Au Naturale Brow Boss Organic Pencil in Blake (a light taupe) // $22
Let’s start with swatches and then I’ll get into a little more detail about each product! Overall, my color choices were pretty spot on for my skin tone. Au Naturale gives fairly detailed explanations of each product shade on their site, which I very much appreciate when trying to choose colors that’ll work for me! The concealer looks a little too peachy when swatched on my arm, but was a perfect shade under my eyes as I have a lot of darkness to cover.
I wanted to include a picture of the swatches in sunlight as well, because both the Anywhere Creme Multistick and Pure Powder Highlighter really come to life in natural light.
The highlighter, as you can tell above, is absolutely GORGEOUS. The shade is unlike anything else I have in my makeup collection and I love how it looks on me. It has a beautiful glow to it without having any actual chunks of glitter or anything over the top. I also think it pairs perfectly with the Grapefruit shade of the Anywhere Creme Multistick! My only complaint is that I’m not the hugest fan of the fact that it’s housed in a pump bottle. I find it a bit messy, however if this is the only option over a loose powder (which we all know I can’t stand, haha), I’d take this any day.
The Anywhere Creme Multistick is my favorite product of the bunch. I swirl a stippling brush lightly over the top of the multistick and then dot the blush onto my cheeks. It gives a very nice natural flush and I find it holds pretty well throughout the day without much fading. The color payoff is excellent too if you couldn’t already tell from the swatch!
While I love both the blush and highlighter, I’m still a bit iffy about both the brow pencil and concealer.
The Brow Boss Organic Pencil is a great color match for me and while I like the formula, I don’t much care for the way it’s “delivered.” Hear me out! It’s quite waxy, almost like a pomade, so it just doesn’t work at all in a pencil form unless you were to get it super sharp at the point, but even then that’s almost impossible because the actual product is too soft.
When I first applied it directly from the pencil, it made a big smeary, patchy mess on my eyebrows that looked waaaay too dark on me. I ended up completely removing it and instead swiped a brow brush over the pencil and then applied it with that instead. It came out WAY better this time! It’s not a super precise and clean looking application like you’d get from an actual pomade or a drier, sharper-ended brow pencil, but it’s perfect for my everyday brows when I just want to fill in the sparseness a bit.
I should also note that if you have quite full brows to begin with and you’re just looking for something to make them look a touch more thick or filled in, I think using this straight out of the pencil would be just fine. My brows are very sparse and light, so being able to create little brow strokes is a necessity for me and therefore I think using a brow brush with this is much easier!
As for the concealer, it is a cream formula and I’d say it gives about a medium coverage. This concealer feels very hydrating thanks to the creamy consistency, but this also means that it slides around a bit and settles in any fine lines, even after I’ve set it. I much preferred using this concealer over top of any redness or blemishes on the rest of my face than I did using it under my eyes.
I’ve honestly never realized how prominent that the scar on the outer corner of my left eye was (I got stitches there when I was really little because I was jumping on a bed and whacked my face on the headboard, hahaha) until some of the concealer made it’s way in and settled into the lines. Overall, the concealer didn’t work under my eyes very well at all, but it did look good on my chin and nose where I get some redness. I think on someone with smoother skin under their eyes that just needs a bit of brightening, this would look great.
