Fall is definitely my favorite season to dress for. I love layering- scarves on top of jackets on top of sweaters on top of shirts. I can’t get enough of winter fashion! Because of the ability to layer in fall and winter, it’s super easy to come up with lots of different outfits out of a few different pieces. Today I’ve got a “7 piece remix” for you. This is where I choose seven pieces of clothing and create multiple outfits out of those seven pieces. I’ve come up with some super cute fall outfits featuring clothing c/o Magnolia Boutique. They are pieces that you would likely have in your own wardrobe (or a version of), so you can recreate these everyday outfits yourself (hint: Pin the below image so you can refer to these outfits later)!
I definitely focused on what I could layer with and what I could easily coordinate with other pieces I chose to use for this remix. For bottoms, I chose a pair of black skinny jeggings (COMFIEST- and cheapest- black skinnies ever) , a pair of cropped beige skinnies and a striped skirt (only $15.99!!). For tops, I chose a dressy white top, a loose-fitting olive green hoodie, a classic chambray shirt and a bright orange sweater. These are all pieces that you could probably substitute with something that’s already in your closet!
For the first outfit, I wore the black skinny jeggings with the dressy white top, and added some gold jewelry to dress it up a bit. This is a perfect-for-work outfit as long as you are in a semi-casual workplace!
In this outfit, I switched out the dressy white top for the olive green hoodie and added a fringe scarf, fringey boots and a mustard-colored bag for a pop of color.
I went for a bit of a J Crew inspired look here. I wore the khaki pants with the bright orange sweater layered over the chambray top. Layering over chambray (or over button downs in general) is a super fun thing to try! If you think it looks a bit awkward, roll up the sleeves a couple folds and you’ll probably feel better about it.
I’ve put the dressy white top back on for this outfit and this time paired it with the khaki jeans and thrown the chambray shirt over it in a jacket/cardigan style. I accessorized with a couple mint pieces and put on some comfy Converse shoes!
In the last outfit, I’ve used the chambray top AGAIN, but this time wore it like a top tucked into the highwaisted striped skirt. The fit of this skirt is fantastic and flowy. It’s also a modest length, so it works for everyone and would be totally workplace-appropriate. I added a Caroline G rosette statement necklace to this outfit for a little blingbling.
There you have it- five ENTIRELY different outfits with only SEVEN pieces of clothing! And while I only made five outfits, my mind was racing with many more possibilities. This weekend, I challenge you to challenge YOURSELF and give this a try. Pull seven pieces out of your closet (don’t go too safe or too wild- keep it balanced with a few neutral colored, classic items and then add a couple of coordinating fun items with patterns and colors) and see how many outfits you can come up with. You’d be surprised what you can find by shopping your own closet!
And if you REALLY think that you don’t have any pieces you could substitute for the ones above, then you should definitely check out Magnolia Boutique and snag yourself a few new items! They have a huge selection AND are very affordable- best of both worlds, amiright? I suggest starting off with buying this sequin elbow patch top, this GORGEOUS cozy cardigan and this aztec print shift dress. They have so many options and my wishlist is endless. Go take a look for yourself!
Are you going to take the challenge?
