Turns out, creating a wedding registry is a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. You’d think that you’d just browse the internet a bit, throw a few things on a list and hope for the best, right? Not quite. Cole and I have lived together for the entirety of our 8 year relationship, so we’ve got a pretty well stocked home at this point. Because of this, it was important to me that we chose carefully for our wedding registry as I didn’t want people wasting their money on things we chose willy-nilly and would never actually use!
In the end, we came up with a few things that we actually needed in our home and otherwise registered for experiences (like fun activities during our honeymoon and future date nights). One of the things that I’m actually surprised we’ve made it this far without is a coffee maker! During the week, we will usually split a French press in the morning before Cole goes to work, and then I make instant throughout the day if I want more coffee.
It’s on the weekends when we drink quite a lot of coffee or have friends over for breakfast that I’m kicking myself for not having an actual coffee maker (whilst I make French press after French press, haha), so it’s about time we got one! The Braun BrewSense Coffee Maker is the perfect wedding registry addition. Obviously, I love that it’s a glossy white (I chose white wherever possible with my appliances because I’m basic like that, haha) with a very clean aesthetic, and it’s got so many great features without being over the top technical.
The Braun BrewSense Coffee Maker is BPA-free (for all parts that touch your coffee), brews up to 12 cups (perfect for having people over!) and has PureFlavor technology that brews coffee at the optimal temperature for the best flavor and aroma. You can adjust the brew strength as well as the temperature of the warming plate (which I love, because then I can grab a coffee whenever throughout the day and it’ll still be warm), and best of all, you can set a timer so your coffee brews before you even get out of bed in the morning!
I definitely recommend adding the Braun BrewSense Coffee Maker to your wedding registry. It’s a must-have for all of my fellow coffee loving newlyweds! If you’re not going to be creating a wedding registry any time soon, you can get 15% off all Braun products (no code required) from April 29 – May 12th on the Braun website!
So, want some tips to help make creating YOUR wedding registry a little bit easier? I’ve compiled a list of my top 10 to help you get started!
1. Register earlier rather than later
Don’t wait until the last minute to create your wedding registry, because it will leave guests scrambling for gift ideas- especially when it comes to pre-wedding events like the engagement party or bridal shower. It’s best to register early to avoid ending up with six blenders and a bunch of other things you’ll never use. ;)
2. Create your registry together
After all, these gifts are for both of you to help you settle into your new life together as a married couple!
3. Decide what you really need
Whether you’re starting fresh together or you’ve already built a home together over the years, there are bound to be some things you really need. Is the vacuum about to kick the bucket? Wouldn’t it be nice to have non-stick pans that actually have a non-stick coating still left on them?
4. But also, treat yo’ self
Once the necessities are out of the way, think about the “fun” things that you would happily treat yourselves to if you had the extra money. A new grill, a stand mixer, a luggage set?
5. Choose items at various price points
Make sure your wedding registry has a lot of gift options at various price points. You don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable if they can’t afford anything that you’ve put on your registry.
6. Register at more than one place
Register at a few different stores to give people lots of options (and to keep you from having to keep adding things to the registry as they are bought).
7. Be true to yourself
Don’t register for things you may never use just because you’re “supposed to” (I’m looking at you, china set). If you and your significant other love camping, register for a tent or cookstove! Guests will love that they can give you a gift that you’ll get tons of enjoyment out of.
8. Over register
It’s best to over register than under register as guests will prefer having plenty of options to choose from. It’s also helpful for pre-wedding events where guests may want to bring a gift.
9. Register at places that offer incentives
Lots of stores offer perks for creating a wedding registry with them. For example, Bed Bath & Beyond (you can register for the Braun BrewSense coffee maker here!) has a program that not only gives you free gifts when guests purchase qualifying items for you, but they also offer a discount on anything left over on your registry after the wedding (for up to three months after the wedding date).
10. Consider non-traditional registry options
You don’t only have to register for “things” anymore! There are lots of wedding registry sites that allow guests to pay cash towards things like your honeymoon, travel, activities and future date nights (all without the poor etiquette of simply asking for money)!

I actually didn’t have a wedding registry because Mike and I already lived together and we had such a small wedding that it didn’t seem like a big deal. After years and years of buying pretty, new appliances, I kind of wish I had the opportunity to have a registry. These are awesome tips!

We’re in the same boat- we’ve lived together for 8 years, so we have most of the things that we need. There are definitely a few things that we’d love to upgrade, but for the most part we don’t NEED anything.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Im shopping for another coffee marker, but I too am partial to the french press but we drink about 30 oz on a Saturday morning. Will check this brand out!

Thank you! Haha, we sound the exact same. Love the french press, but I can’t be bothered making so many on the weekend!

“be true to yourself” is such an important tip here. It is so easy to get overly excited about all the things you wouldn’t even really like or need.
