february goals

Firstly, I give total credit to Jess from Jess Is More for inspiring this post, because basically I read her February goals post today and was like yep, I’ll do that too. Ha. Thanks Jess.

It is a pretty great idea, because though I did make a list of my goals for 2013 (and a list of my resolutions for 2013, yes, I consider them to be two different things), they were very general to cover the whole year and I want to break them down each month to hold myself accountable. So here are my goals for February, roughly based on my goals list and what I generally want to accomplish in life.

Roaddddtrriiipppppp!

February goals:

- Spend less than $1600 on our South Island trip all up. We have to pay around $600 for the campervan we’re renting, and then in total our gas should cost somewhere around $500. That leaves us with around $500 spending money/food money, and our driving trip is only nine days (and then three more days spent with friends) so we should be able to do it.

- Do something active at least four times a week. I seriously don’t like exercising. I have phases where I think I like it, but then I get totally over it a week later. The only way to keep me interested is to do something interesting. Since I won’t be working my office job anymore (yesterday was my last day!!!) I should have no problem accomplishing this. So whether it be a walk along the beach, a hike in the bush or who knows what.. I need to do it.

- Complete ten design jobs. I have seven full designs on my to-do list at the moment, as well as a few “extras” jobs. My goal is to complete these (and more if I can, obviously!) by the end of February. Since Cole and I both won’t be working again until the end of March, getting and finishing all of the design jobs that I can will be crucial to our bank account.

- Get my student loans down to $6500. I’m at $9000-something at the moment, and I have a large payment I’m planning to make by the end of the month. I just need to complete all the design work I can to afford the payment I’m envisioning.

- Increase Olive & Ivy’s traffic by 20%. Baby steps people, baby steps. To get here, I will be commenting more on blogs outside my “daily reads”, hopefully participating in some giveaways and finding some new blogs to sponsor. Hopefully I can figure out StumbleUpon and get some more views that way as well.

- Read, read, read. I want to read six books this month. Is that cray? I’m going to be on a roadtrip for nine days so I’ll have a whole lot of downtime to relax and read a book. I’m also not one of those people who gets sick from reading in cars. Speaking of reading, add me on GoodReads.

What are your goals this month? Do you have any tips that you think would help me to achieve of these goals?

Comments

  1. Great goals. I might try to follow the second one myself (my job involves constantly walking around a huge store all day, so I often feel like I’ve exercised enough when I probably really haven’t).

  2. Love these goals! I need to figure out StumbleUpon, too! You can do it, lady! xoxo :)

  3. Those are some mighty fine goals you got there for Feb girl!! But way attainable!

Reading 6 book for the month?! Here I am stressing about finishing my one book a month resolution. You inspire me :)

And Congrats on getting your student loans down!!! Tons of us like ME haven’t looked at that, let alone start paying YET!

    Happy Friday love! xo, Bev

  4. I love your goals! I think it’s great to have monthly goals; it really breaks down the time for you and it’s easier to look back on to see if you completed them in a month!

This road trip sounds like so much fun! Also, it’s great you can read in the car. Sadly, I’m one of those people who can’t. But I’m now going to add you on Goodreads. Love that site!

    xo, gina

  5. Yeah for all your goals. I don’t know about Stumbleupon but will look into it. Thanks for sharing about it.

I hope your achieve all your goals this month.

  6. Good luck with your goals Chelsea! I remember the day I paid off my student loans.
    Such a great feeling!

  7. I like the idea of breaking down your yearly goals by month. Much more manageable that way. My goals for Feb: meal planning and writing things on my calendar. Seem simple enough. :) Have a great road trip!

  8. These are GREAT goals! I found your blog through from the 12 months of ad space giveaway and I am so glad I did, I love it and I am now following you! Happy Friday!

  9. Love this. I am always making myself lists with goals and things to get done. I think when you write it down then get to actually cross it off your list it feels like a real accomplishment.
I just found your blog, and am a new follower! One step closer to your 20%!

  10. Yay, I added you as a friend on GoodReads. :) You can definitely do 6 books, good luck! :)

  11. Girl, I’m so down with the completion of designs. I want to make my customers happy so I need to get on with the Valentines couple illustrations before the 14th!

I also made a promise to myself that I will show my appreciation to other bloggers by commenting ;)

Good luck with your goals and have fun! I’ve never been to the south so be sure to take lots of photos.

  12. It is always good to actually write down your goals and in this case, share them with your readers. It makes us so much accountable! Best of luck to you this month! I am excited to see what you do! :)

  16. So exciting to see another Bev comment (there don’t seem to be very many of us.)

Anyway, great goals! I like to break larger ones down weekly to make them a little more manageable. I have so many goals for the month, hopefully they’re attainable!

  17. Wow you are so ambitious I love it!!!!!

  18. These are great goals!! I have to somehow increase my traffic, too. AND come up with some post ideas! Let me know if you come up with any ways to increase your traffic :) I’ll have to start reading and commenting more too and get out of my “blog scanning” mode.

  19. I love the way you set up your goals for this month alone. You’re right, it really puts everything into perspective and makes it so much more important to you to get them done! I might have to try this (:

  20. “I seriously don’t like exercising. I have phases where I think I like it, but then I get totally over it a week later.”

I read this and I was like “YUP Chelsea gets me”.

  21. Thanks for passing on the blog post inspiration :)

I also want to set aside some time to read this month and pay off some super credit card debt!!

  22. These are all great goals, I totally understand you on the activity one, Chelsea! I sometimes feel like I do like exercising.. but in a week it’s all gone hahah I’m very excited for your trip and I can’t wait to read about it!

  23. I recently did a goals post too and did one in January! I love doing one a month so I can hold myself accountable. You’ve got some greats goals! Hope you achieve them all this month!
    xoxo
