Happy New Years!

Happy January 1st everyone, it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood…a beautiful day for a neighbor. Wontcha be mine? Enough Mr Rogers, let’s just get down to business shall we? Welcome to a new year of excitements, happiness, sadness, opportunities, choices, experiences and life. So much will happen to you this year and I hope that it is an amazing one. After all, we did conquer the end of the world last year so we should be able to handle anything!

It’s also the time in our lives when we re-evaluate everything that happened in the last year, good and bad, and we make resolutions for the next 365 days. These resolutions, for most of us, last a whole 5 days before we forget or give up. But sometimes, just sometimes, there is that one resolution that for whatever reason sticks and makes it through the week, month, year. I think the only one for me that ever stuck was when I resolved to stop drinking pop. That lasted me…six years? Then I met my boyfriend and he got me onto it again. Damnit. Anyways, here are my resolutions for 2013!

1) Be health-conscious. I want to keep this general, instead of “lose 1000000lbs” or “only ever eat carrot sticks and celery”, so I don’t fail myself. I am a horrible dieter and I exercise in phases. I totally commit to something for a short amount of time and then I get bored and give up/move on. This year I want to find exercise in doing something I enjoy, learn to cook healthier and just make healthier choices in general.

2) Save, save, save. Cole and I have saved a bit since we’ve been in New Zealand for our move back to Canada, but not nearly as much as we could have if we had spent more consciously and ate less fast food (okay, and I like shopping as well). We are going to be working at a job where we will be living semi-remotely for most of the week with no way to spend money, so I am hoping that we find the willpower to save as much as possible and not spend too much on our days off work. I’m not sure at this point what we’re saving for other than just the future.

3) Be more positive. I may or may not be a pessimist by nature. My boyfriend is one of those “everything will work out fine” people, while I freak out because we are five minutes late to something. I am one of those “OMG MY LIFE IS OVER” if I mess something up kinda people, and I know it’s stupid. I need to chill out and look on the bright side more often.

4) Keep my health anxiety in check. My anxiety-anxiety I can’t do much about other than deal with it when it comes and relax myself, but my health anxiety is all in my head. I have wrote about it before, but I’m not sure if you guys (my readers) know how much it has controlled and does control my life. I have actually been very good handling it the past couple of months but I have had very bad bouts with it in the last year when it has been at it’s very worst. I hope to keep the worries at bay and adopt my boyfriend’s carefree attitude…to some extent at least!

These are all of my resolutions at the moment. I have a 2013 goals post coming up as well, where you’ll notice my resolutions and goals are different. I kind of think of them as two different things..I’m not sure why. Anywho – what are your resolutions for 2013?
