Blog Topic Ideas Anyone?

We all get stuck on what to write for a blog post every now and then. Okay, maybe a little more often than that. And that's OKAY. We are bloggers - not all of us are professional writers or whatever, we just like to write things for fun and sometimes need a bit of prompting. It doesn't make me feel like a poopy blogger by admitting that I struggle for ideas some of the time. Sometimes a lot of the time.

So when my wonderfully clever friend Lesley from By the Porchlight sent an email to a few ladies, myself included, asking if we'd like to be part of a "blog-storming" linkup, I was like HECK YES. Ideas galore. At your fingertips. Enjoy. Be sure to check out the other ideas by scrolling down and clicking on the blogs in the linky! And here are some of my ideas...
1. Anything cool you've done, ever. You don't always have to write about something that happened THAT day or THAT weekend...write about your awesome trip to France last year or that time you went on a cross-country road trip.
2. Pets..they make for some seriously cute/funny posts. Tell us about your pet's quirks and share some freaking adorable pictures. I love animals. *sucker for cute pictures*
3. Fashion - this sucks me in everytime. Go on Polyvore and create a set of some sort of theme/style that you're loving {fall fashion, a certain color or pattern you're loving, etc} and voila! you have a pretty little post on fashion. I love reading/looking at these.
4. Feel the passion. Anything you feel passionate about at ALL is often very easy to write about. Are you a coffee-connoisseur? Tell us about your favorite drinks. Do you support a cause - such as sponsoring children or donating to breast cancer research - wholeheartedly? Tell us how we can be part. Write about something you love/support.
5. You. Readers love to get to know the person behind the blog, and often this gets lost amongst all the link-ups and blog hops. Tell your readers some random facts about you that will help them get an idea of who you are. Funny pictures are always a plus in these posts!
6. Home decor posts...I also love these. Peruse Pinterest for all your faves and share them with us! Try keeping your post specific to a room or style... like "beachy" style houses or your fave small office spaces.
7. Recipes. Yum yum yum. Can't beat a tried and true recipe...share! And be sure to take pictures of the steps and your lovely final product!
If all else fails, ramble on about something and stick some pictures in there. I am a very visual person and will be happy with someone's post if they have something for me to look at ;) Hope I helped and I can't wait to read everyone else's ideas. And DEFINTELY leave your ideas in the comments, I can always use them!!

I always try to include one picture. But I come to the realization that sometime if you have a busy day (like I did the other day) that you could space out what you did through your post. Like I did this day 1 and this day 2. I found that can help on days you don't know what to blog about. And there are always link-up post that share who you are and another blog.

Thanks for sharing,
Cody

Love the ideas! I'm also a big fan of letting off steam - in a rant (of course, without details - blogs shouldn't be gossip or slander)! There are also some pretty entertaining link ups around, e.g. Monday Listicles or Random Thursday. These topics can make for pretty creative posts, too!

Such great ideas - I'm a sucker for the more personal posts too. I love reading about the person behind the blog. But my problem right now is too many ideas, too little time to write! :)

Great post! I love it. Maybe I'll do some home decor themed posts... that'd be fun!

YAY! I love the idea of a more random Link party. I like the idea of finding something else apart from Fashion blogs which is normally what happens with me and link parties.

oh heeeeeeeeeeeeck yes. I hate when people whine about people ranting on their blogs. like serious? it's your blog, write whatever you want!!! rants are absolutely necessary sometimes. and I definitely agree that linkups are super handy when you don't know what to do a post on!
