I love long hair. And for some reason, I have cut my hair short for the past ever since highschool. Makes no sense, right? Wrong. It does make sense if you knew that in the past four years I have bleached the underneath layer of my hair, permed my hair twice, cut it really short and bleached all of it, dyed it a million different colors............... the list goes on. My. Poor. Hair.
I've totally used this collage on my blog before but it was when no one read it so it doesn't count.
All in all, I've essentially been growing my hair out since October of 2009. It's only just-top-of-boob length at the moment. MY HAIR GROWS SO SLOWLY. But also I have it trimmed pretty often. I am a freak about split ends. Actually, I got the idea of this post as I was just sitting at my desk with a pair of scissors hunting for split ends. I never had any all through highschool even though that's when I did the worst damage to my hair, I straightened it every single day. I literally wouldn't leave the house without it straightened. And I NEVER put my hair up. So maybe that's why I have them so bad now..I rock the sock-bun like erryday.
My hair now
Basically, this post is to show off my previous hair styles and to get some thoughts from you lovely readers on what works for keeping your ends healthy? I have tried coconut oil and it doesn't seem to do much for my hair other than make it mad greasy. I trim it every couple of months and I really don't use heat on it very often anymore. Help?

My hairdresser said that curling your hair is less damaging then straightening because it doesn't cause as much tension with the heat. I honestly just think that some people can't have long hair without it looking damaged. I am like you, it's about to boob length and just doesn't get much longer without looking rough because it grows SO slow.
I don't have any tips, just had to say I think your hair is sooooooooo cute right now! I'm like you in that I love long hair, and I want mine to be long. But for the past 4 years I have cut it so much. It was BOY SHORT for awhile even! It's now a little past my shoulders. And I've been dying it all colors since 8th grade. I am trying so hard to not cut it! www.funsizetessa.blogspot.com
Omg I love your "nowadays" photo in the collage! I love long hair too. I don't get the whole short hair thing but some do pull it off very well. Right now I'm loving my hair longer, which it usually is but it's very frizzy since my last pregnancy. Not sure what to do because the last cut did nothing to make it look any better. I guess lots of products help but I have no idea which ones to use. lol. I love your hair either way. :)
The best thing you can do if you want your hair to grow long and healthy is not to do much with it at all. Don't color or bleach it, don't blow dry, don't always put up in a ponytail. I never use a blowdryer and I rarely put my hair up--I just use fun flower clips or headbands to dress it up--and I haven't seen a split end in my hair for years. I usually get it cut twice a year just because my hair looks huge when it's long, but all the things we do to be pretty are very damaging to our hair!
I'm a freak about split ends and I'm another one who never had them in high school no matter what torture I put my hair through. To avoid them now, I get my hair trimmed once a month. Crazy, yes? To keep my hair healthy, I get a deep hair conditioner, cover my hair in it, wrap my head/hair up with saran wrap, and use a hair dryer on it for 5 minutes. The heat is supposed to open up the hair follicles and let the conditioner work better. I also take biotin which helps my hair and nails grow faster and healthier. :)
totally in the same boat, I cahnce my hair color with the seasons and have had it long super short - straintened with irons, left naturally curly etc. I am done dying it for now, its burning my hair. I went recently and got alot of damage cutt off and bought some saloon condition and shampoo and jell that is loaded in oil
I always use some sort of leave in conditioner and I only heat treat on special occasions...seems to help with the length, but I have yet to figure out what cut suits me best!
Oh boy, hair is so demanding, isn't it. I have bleached my hair for many, many years and have not had problems til this last year. Tip for growing: biotin vitamins. They will grow your hair and nails and make your skin look fabulous. Tip for weak ends: Loreal Paris Everstrong Overnight Treatment. It is an overnight cream that I have fallen in love with. You don't have to wait 20-30 minutes for a deep conditioner, just apply at night and go to bed.
I am literally right here with you on the hair situation. I had my hair cut into a pixie in 2010, bleached it out, colored it green, bleached it again.. I've been growing it out ever since but naturally.. it is so fried! 1. My stylist recommended Kerastase Nectar Thermique and it works like a dream! 2. You can also wrap your ends in perm paper and straighten over it to avoid touching your hair with harmful heat directly! Both have worked wonders for my stubby but brittle ends!
funny my post today was about my bad hair job from yesterday ahah! I truly like it. I think you look really pretty with any style because you have a really great facial structure for anything!
Hmm, the only thing I've tried on my hair is coconut oil, and that has worked pretty well for me. Mind you, my hair is short and curly, so that might not be much help for you! Dropping by from the GFC blog hop. :)
I am NO help here! I love picking my split ends! Seriously, the sun light hits them just right and I'm gone for hours! Picking away. A few times, I've found hairs with up to 17 splits on them! Clearly I have a problem. Saying hello today from Rushing for Bagels.

I absolutely love the color of your hair now. It's so pretty.

You have nice hair girl. I used only shampoo and conditioner for my hair. They look fine so far.
